The calling
Why I was made
My vocation is the true recognition of why I was made, and of God's own purpose in my life. That sentence is not a flourish. It is the thing the rest of the book is built on, because a philosophy that cannot answer why you are here cannot tell you what to do with the years.
It is also the reason chapter eight exists. Vision, in the book, is not a plan or a target. It is the recognition itself — seeing what you were made for clearly enough that the decisions stop being difficult.

The mentor
Bishop Bernadin Mfumbusa
He reviewed the manuscript and pushed the thinking through. I have said it plainly and I will keep saying it: Without him, and his help reviewing and passing through my ideas, I would not have written my book. Chapter eight is his.
He died in April 2026. My tribute opened with an old proverb and admitted it had nothing to offer — niseme nini ili iwe nini, what could I say that would change anything. I still do not have a better answer than that.

Before the examinations
Sitting with students
I go into the schools; Marian Boys, St Joseph Cathedral High School and I sit with the students. Not to give a talk at them. To hear what is actually frightening them, which is rarely the syllabus, and encourage them to keep going.
This is the part I would keep if I had to give up the rest of it. A room of young people who have been told for years that their worth is a mark on a page is a room that needs a philosophy insight, urgently.

Where this goes next
Nobody lives alone.
I am because we are. Chapter twenty says it, John Mbiti said it first, and this book exists because many people carried it. Alone I could have done nothing.
